Edwin A. Adams

November 21, 1946 — August 24, 2021

Andy Adams, 74, died Tuesday, August 24th, 2021 at the Central Wyoming Hospice. His wife Lynda, of 55 years, was by his side when he passed.

Andy was born in Brownfield, Texas on November 21, 1946 to Hearl and Opal Adams. Andy married Lynda Galyen on May 27, 1966. They lived in Hobbs, New Mexico until they moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1968. Andy was proud of the six years he served in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, his two sons, Mark Adams of Fort Collins, Colorado and Steven Adams of Casper, Wyoming, his granddaughter, Kenady Adams and his sister, Sue Abshier of Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Andy loved and enjoyed life. He loved laughing, making jokes, talking with people and going places. Andy never met a stranger. If you were ever with him when a car backfired, you could bet your last dollar you would hear him say, "shoot low sheriff, they're riding Shetlands". This was just one of his many "go to" phrases. Andy was a wonderful husband, the best Dad and a true family man. He will be greatly missed.

Andy's love of hotrods and race cars started at a young age. When his father offered him the choice of playing football or owning a car, he chose the car and never looked back. Throughout his life, Andy took great pride in owning and restoring race cars and hot rods. Andy's love of drag racing and Corvettes was second to none. He always said there is a fine-line between hot-rodding and abusing cars and over the years he built, broke, blew up and fixed several cars all in the name of hot-rodding. Andy was instrumental in starting the Central Wyoming Corvette Club.

He loved being at the race track, whether watching or racing, so long as he was surrounded by his race car friends and family. Those were the best times of his life and we know that he will enjoy, once again, sitting around "shooting the bull and bench racing" with all of his friends that are also gone too soon.

Andy was one of the lucky ones who was also able to make a career out of doing what he loved. He owned and operated Western Engine and Machine until he retired in 2010 and relocated to Florida. While in Florida his health took a turn for the worse and ultimately, he and his wife moved back to Casper, Wyoming in 2018.

As Andy wanted, no funeral will be held. He will be laid to rest at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. The family will schedule a celebration of Andy's life in the Spring.

He may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
