Edwin A. (Ted) Norbury, 92, of Casper, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center. He was born on August 25, 1916, in Greybull, Wyoming, to William T. and Lilly (Deeble) Norbury. On August 17, 1952, in Casper, he married Marian Ford, she passed away on May 3, 1995.
Edwin joined the U.S. Air Force in 1942, serving in the European and Middle East Theaters in a heavy bomber group and was later discharged honorably in 1945. He formerly worked for the Employment Security Commission, and in 1947, went to work for Marathon Oil Company. He worked in the office in Oregon Basin, in Sidney, Nebraska, before transferring in 1953, to Casper, Wyoming, where he retired on January 31, 1981. Shortly after retirement, Edwin and Marian moved to Canon City, Colorado, until her death in 1995, afterwards moving back to Casper. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, bowling, dancing, tennis, golf, traveling, and watching the Denver Broncos.
Edwin was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Casper, Casper Elks Club, Greybull Masonic Lodge, American Legion in Casper, and the Shadow Hill Golf Club in Canon City, Colorado.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy (husband Jay) Stewart of Casper, Wyoming; one son, Steven (wife Char) Norbury of Canon City, Colorado; two grandsons, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mickey McNulty.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at 2:00pm at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery with Father John Smylie officiating.
Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Casper Humane Society, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
