Edward Milo Nicholson of Savery, Wyoming, passed away surrounded by family after a hard fought battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Casper, Wyoming.
He was born on the family homestead near Savery, Wyoming on March 19, 1936 to Milo and Eva Nicholson, the fourth of four children. He grew up on the ranch, attended school, and graduated from Savery School with a high school diploma. After completing school, Ed worked on the family ranch. In addition to working for other ranchers on the Snake River, he also would drive livestock to various rodeos in Wyoming and Colorado. During one of his stops for coffee, he was smitten by the waitress who "accidently" put salt in his coffee, which later led them down the aisle. Ed and Marlene Kay (Shurigar) Nicholson were married on July 29, 1967. They created a life in Rawlins, Wyoming, having three children, and Ed worked as a mechanic, body repair, heavy equipment operator for Union 76, finishing his career working at Carbon County Road and Bridge. They were married just shy of their 35th wedding anniversary when Marlene passed away in July 2002.
He was a rare man in this day and age. All who knew him could see his dedication to his family. He put forth a great effort to support his family and elevate their needs above his own. He never hesitated to go out of his way to help his family, friends, and the homestead. After the passing of his wife, he returned to the homestead, and as the family grew with grandchildren and great grandchildren, he enjoyed sharing his passion and loved working the ranch, hunting, driving his 3020 tractor, spending time with family and friends at the Senior Center in Dixon, and on adventures in the great outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Holley) Nicholson, of Rawlins, Wyoming; his daughter, Nikki Nicholson (George Hodnett) of Casper, Wyoming; his sibling, Edna Linebrink of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandchildren: Beth Lynette Dodgson (Mark Ramirez), Steven Milo Nicholson, Austin Scott Nicholson (Ashley Milliken), Jeremiah Scott Nicholson; Great grandchildren: Savery and Rypp Nicholson, Jaxon and Marcos Ramirez all of Rawlins, Wyoming; numerous nieces and nephews.
