Edward Boyer

Edward Clair Boyer died Tuesday, November 10th at the Wyoming Medical Center after short illness. He was 85 years old.
Ed was born April 5, 1924 in Cowanshannock Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania to Clinton and Mary Boyer. Ed was the middle of 3 sons and before completing high school was inducted into the Army Air Corps and became an airframe and engine mechanic. He served in the European, African and Middle East Campaigns and rose to the rank of corporal. His only complaint while in service was that his last name started with a 'B'. Each time that the unit moved, they started the "KP" roster from the start of the alphabet. He took his complaint to the commanding officer and was given a permanent off-duty pass. From that day forward, Ed would always speak his mind.
Ed was fIrst married to Betty Walker. This union was blessed with three sons. On May 25, 1968, Edward married Patricia Adams Erickson.
Later, Ed completed a high school GED and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Political Science (1971) and a Masters Degree in Public Administration (1973) from the University of Wyoming. Before deciding on college, he was employed in industrial settings in Pennsylvania and Wyoming for 28 years. Following the completion of his Masters Degree he joined the faculty at Casper College where he taught in several areas, eventually becoming the Coordinator of the Petroleum Technology Program. He retired from the college in 1994 and was also honored that year with PHI THETA KAPPA 1993-94 Teacher of the Year award.
Ed was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the American Petroleum Institute, and the Central Wyoming Industrial Arts Association. Ed was also a member and active in the ministries of Highland Park
Community Church. In 1973, he authored the study "Collective Bargaining for Municipal Employees Trends &
Issues in Wyoming" which was subsequently published by the Government Research Bureau at the University of Wyoming. He was also included in the 1982-83 edition of "Who's Who in the West."
Ed was a talented artist and craftsman who created many beautiful pieces and paintings for his friends and family. He was a loving and giving man who encouraged and supported the students who passed through his classrooms. His strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ sustained him through the physical challenges that he encountered during his later years. He shared his faith and how he had been blessed at every opportunity.
Mourning Ed's death is his wife Pat; his sons Allen (Bernie) of Rural Valley, PA, Charles of Rural Valley, PA and Dennis (Vickie) of Rural Valley, PA and Sarasota, FL; grandsons Brian (Noel) of Gillette, WY, Tom (Chrissie) of Numine, PA and Mike of Rural Valley, PA as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, former associates and
