Long time Casper resident (Edith) Jean (Wagoner) Johnson, age 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 16, 2010. Newcomer Funeral Home & crematory is in Charge of arrangements. Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the First Southern Baptist Church, with Pastor Rob Peterson officiating. Her body has been cremated at her wishes.
Jean was born November 14, 1918 on her grandfather's family farm outside Bluffton, Indiana, first child of Homer and Dorothea McAfee. She was raised and attended school in the Marion, Indiana, graduating from Purdue University in 1940 with a degree in Home Economics.
In 1941, Jean married Edward S. Golden, who died in combat during WWII. They had one son, Michael S. Golden.
In 1947, Jean married James K. Wagoner. They moved to Casper where the remised Michael and their additional five children.
She married Richard G. Johnson in 1977. She and Richard spent their retirement winters in Wickenburg, AZ, where they built a second home. She was a devout Christian, a member of First Southern Baptist Church, and taught the older Women's Sunday School Class for several years.
Jean worked for Security Bank, and then Natrona County treasurer's Office until she retired. After retirement, she worked during he licensing rush for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Joseph McAfee, her husband Edward and their son Michael, second husband Jim, and step-son Bryan Johnson. She is survived by her husband Richard Johnson, daughters Kay Nuzum of Casper, Peggy (Ruben) Baca of Bellingham, WA, and Lynn (John) Dampman of Glenrock, sons James K. Wagoner II of Laramie and Frank (Gaylen) Wagoner of Casper, stepchildren Trudy and Marcia of Colorado and Brad of Montana. In addition, she leaves 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as 13 nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jeans name made to Hospice, Meals on Wheels or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family and may be left at Newcomer's.
