Dorothy Irene LaChance, born December 25, 1921, was the 7th of 8 children born to Ernest and Selma of East Grand Forks, Minnesota. She was blessed to come from a large extended family whose solidarity, self-sufficiency, and good Scandinavian stock saw them through many trials and tribulations. She grew to be a beauty both within and of face and form. She was a war bride having met her future husband during WWII in San Francisco, CA. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle spirit who drew her strength from her faith in God and her steadfast devotion to family. Dorothy always called it as she saw it in a most charming and endearing manner. She had a great sense of humor that helped her contend with sereve lifelong hearing loss. Her many talents include painting, knitting, and crochet, crafting and sewing. Her family will always remember her skills in the kitchen – her baking and her "killer" potato salad! More importantly, she will be remembered for her abiding love, warm smile, cuddly hugs and big smooches.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, James Ross LaChance; her parents, and her 7 sisters and brothers: Roland, Dick, Petie, Vee, Bercedes, Ellie and Bonnie. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her children: Virginia Assenberg, Ross (Lindel) LaChance, James LaChance, Becky Smith and Joel (Debbie) LaChance. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grand children and 9 great grandchildren as well as countless nieces and nephews.
Dorothy's life will be celebrated at her church home on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church 1240 S. Missouri, Casper WY starting at 11:00 AM.
