Doris (Dorie) Helen Brown 72, of Casper passed away on June 1, 201, at her home with her family surrounding her after a long battle with cancer.
Doris was born in Wheatland WY., on October 2, 1939. Her family lived most of their time in Douglas WY. , moving to a coal mine towards Gillette for a short time then back to Douglas.
Doris met and married George Brown in June of 1957. They moved to NE., where they resided until moving back to Douglas, WY. in 1967. Living there for a short time they moved their family to Casper, WY. Doris worked at the state children's Home for several years. She then worked and retired from New Directions in Casper, WY. Doris loved working with the teens and trying to make a difference in their lives.
Doris was preceded in death by her infant son Clyde (Chippy) Daniel Brown, infant granddaughter Theresa Wollich and her parents Bertha (Bert) and Paul Griffitts.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Brown of almost 55 years, five children, Casandra (Casie) Leslie, Velvet (John Herman), Kelleen (Kelly) Brown, Patrick (Pat) Brown, Robin (Bobbie) Brown al of Casper, Wyoming. She had 14grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Clara Tomasek of Colorado and Lavina Jackson, of Casper, WY. 2 brothers, Daniel Griffitts of New Mexico and Calvin Griffitts of NE. Also several nieces and nephews.
Doris was a long standing Christian and active in her faith. She loved getting together with her family for holidays and barbeques, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play, making craft project, going on trips and spending time with her husband. She will be missed the most for her ability to make others laugh and to make them feel important.
Mom (Granny) you are so loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be at Set Free Ministries 320 E. K. St., Casper, WY. from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.
Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Set Free Ministries. Burial will be in Oregon Trail State Veteran Cemetery Evansville, WY. A reception will be held directly afterwards at Set Free Ministries.
