March 18, 1924 — December 12, 2018

Dora "Goldie" M. McMillan

Goldie was born in Pine River, Minnesota on March 18, 1924. Her parents, John W. Grover and Dora M. Robinson along with 11 other children farmed near Pine River, Minnesota then moved to Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska to find work. They settled in the Lake Alice area in Nebraska where the younger kids went to school at Lake Alice Country School.

She met her future husband, Harold (Bill) A McMillan, when he was discharged from the Army in November 1945 after the war in Europe and returned to the Scottsbluff area. They were married July 20, 1947. February 26, 1949 brought Gary A McMillan into their lives and the decision to find a better job took them to Midwest, Wyoming where they stayed with Goldie's sister Lil' until Bill could find work.

He worked highway construction on the road going south of Midwest up to the hill known as Hospital Hill. When this job was done, they moved to Jackson, Wyoming area building highways near Moose, Wyoming, Turpin Meadows and Togwotee Pass area. In August 1951, twins were born in Jackson, Wyoming and so Dennis and Rodney were added to the small trailer Goldie, Bill and Gary were to share. They needed a better paying job so moved to Midwest to work in the oil fields.

Bill worked for Amoco Production for 32 years and retired in May 1984. In the late 1960's, Goldie worked at the Junction Café in Midwest then in the school cafeteria. After Bill suffered a heart attack in 1990, they moved to Casper, Wyoming to be closer to Medical Facilities. Bill continued to have mini strokes and Goldie took care of him at home for the next ten years until she no longer was able to do so. Bill was moved to Sheppard of the Valley Nursing Home where he passed away in May 2002. Their Rod died in December 2015 of cancer.

Goldie continued to live in her home until her health started failing. She was a resident at Garden Square Assisted Living until she had a fracture in her hip. She then lived at Life Care Center of Casper until her death 12-12-2018.

Goldie is survived by her younger sisters Cora (Bob) Stanker in Sheridan and Laura (Chuck) Jensen of Spokane, Washington, sons Gary of Edgerton and Dennis (Jeanne) of Powell, Grand Daughter Mary Pat McMillan of Casper, Grandson Kelly McMillan and two Step Grandsons Larry and Danny Moore all from Riverton, three Great Grand Children Joey, Amber and Taylor, and 5 Great Great Grand Children and many nieces and nephews and their children.
