Donna Marie Loomis, age 67, of Casper, passed away October 22, 2019 at Meadow Wind Assisted Living. Donna was born July 5, 1952 in Virginia, Minnesota to Raymond and Terttu (Kilpela) Helander. Donna graduated from Horseman High School in Biwabik, Minnesota. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from University of Minnesota, Duluth. After graduating, she relocated to Casper, Wyoming where she met and married the love of her life James Loomis on June 9, 1982. She worked for the City of Casper Fire Department as an administrative secretary for 18 years before retiring. She was an avid skier, hiker, and outdoors enthusiast. She enjoyed photography and astronomy. The greatest highlight was volunteering at Bryce National Park for Dark Sky Viewers.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 34 years, James "Jim" Loomis, and brother, Ernest. She is survived by her brothers, Ricky and Randy Helander, sister, Diane Helander, brother-in-law, Allan, cousin, Yeshe, and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:00pm at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A reception will follow at the Nicolaysen Art Museum Gallery, 400 E. Collins Drive, Casper, WY 82601.
