Funeral Liturgy for Donna Lorraine Ala, 80, will be celebrated on October 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Casper, Wyoming, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, by Father Ray Rodriguez. Rite of Committal will be conducted at Memorial Gardens Cemetery immediately following services.
Vigil for the deceased will be recited on October 4, 2020 at Newcomer's Funeral Home.
Donna died on October 1, 2020 at the Washakie Medical Center.
Donna was born October 26, 1939 in American Falls, Idaho the daughter of Martha Lilifae Wenz and Emil Emmanuel Bauer. She was one of three children and grew up on the family dry farm in Lake Channel. In third grade Donna's country school closed and the family moved to American Falls so the children could continue with their education. During summers the family moved back to the dry farm until after harvesting. Donna said those were happy peaceful days for all of them. Following graduation from American Falls High School, Donna attended Idaho State College and received her Secretarial Certificate. Donna was working in Pocatello, Idaho when she met the love or her life, William Patrick Ala.
Donna and Bill were married on May 7, 1960 in Pocatello, Idaho. They moved to Virginia where Bill was stationed at the Norfolk Naval Base, followed by a move to Casper in 1963. Donna worked as a bookkeeper for CIT Corporation during the 1970's and was a dedicated Weight Watchers lifetime member and meeting leader for many years.
Donna was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a regular volunteer with the Holy Cross Center Food Bank, where she also provided bookkeeping services. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and searching for new recipes.
In 2016, she moved to Worland with her husband Bill where she resided until her death.
Donna is survived by her sister JoAnn Bauer, five children, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
