Doni passed away at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming on February 12, 2019. He was born October 27, 1969, and attended school in Greybull. He is the son of Donald Dean Lassiter, Sr. and Karen Jones.
Humor, gratitude, loyalty and generosity were his hallmarks and it is quite fitting, as an organ donor, that he gave his heart on Valentine's Day.
As a Wyoming native, Doni enjoyed many of the outdoor activities Wyoming had to offer. He was an avid survivalist who relished the challenges of nature.
His preferred campsite was Hawk Rock (so-named by him). When he discovered it, the area was littered with trash and overgrown with thistles. Doni packed trash out, pulled thistles, burned it in the campfire and within a few years the area was once again pristine. This was his practice wherever he went.
His back was injured working in the oil field and in construction, but his mind was never idle. He was a walking encyclopedia and blessed with a curious and hungry mind.
Doni was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sr. He leaves behind his partner, Amy Whitman of Casper, daughter, Samantha, mother, Karen Jones of Cody, a sister, Kerri (Matt) Wagner of Volga, SD, half-brothers, James (Stacie) Childs of Santaquin, UT, Ronald (Lynde) Childs of Cheyenne, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who love and miss him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Newcomer Casper Chapel.
