Donald E. Cain, 82, passed away January 7, 2009, at Central Wyoming Hospice. Don was born at Lovoy, WY, in the Salt Creek Oilfield, to Neta M. (Jones) Cain and Glenn Cain, on August 5, 1926. Don attended the Midwest Schools until the sixth grade. He then moved to Whitefish, MT and then to Oregon Basin, WY and attended high school in Cody, WY. He left school at seventeen to join the NAVY and serve his country during WWII. Don returned to Cody, WY after his discharge in 1946. He married the love of his life, Marjorie V. Brundage, on June 20, 1947, in Billings, MT. They made their home in Cody, WY.
Don worked for the Irma Hotel and the Hoodoo Ranch. After his marriage, he went to work for Husky Oil Company. Going to school at night, he earned his GED, as well as taking business classes. Don worked for Husky Oil for 35 ½ as purchasing agent and then purchasing manager.
Don and Marjorie raised 4 children; Candy (Dennis) Henderson of Douglas, Clell (Charla) Cain of Riverton, Glenn Cain of Glenrock, and Ron (Cori) Cain of Glenrock.
Shortly after the passing of his beloved wife, Marjorie, on April 14, 1997, Don moved to Glenrock to be close to his family. In 2003, Don was awarded his high school diploma by the Veterans Affairs in recognition of his service during WWII at a ceremony among family and friends. This was very important to him and he was very proud and grateful to receive this recognition.
Don is survived by his children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his only brother, Norvell Cain.
He will be sorely missed by all who loved him and those who had the pleasure of knowing this wonderful gentleman, who always had a twinkle in his eye and a great sense of humor.
At Don's request, there will be no services and he asks that memorials be made to the Glenrock Senior Center and Central Wyoming Hospice.
