Dianne Damery Wartick passed away unexpectedly February 27, 2015, in Casper, Wyoming, joining our Heavenly Father.
Dianne was the first of six children born to Alfred and Neva Damery March 8, 1943, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.
Dianne married her loving husband, Curtis Wartick 50 years ago in Banff, Canada.
She and her husband and daughter, Candice, started a new chapter by leaving Canada to move to Casper, Wyoming in 1978. Because she loved her family, Dianne willingly changed careers from banking management to running their home as a loving wife and mother. During this new chapter, Dianne discovered one of her greatest talents and passions: artistic expression. She painted murals throughout the community, and created and painted backdrops for many years for the Casper Figure Skating Club's biannual ice shows. In addition, Dianne was an expert seamstress and designed and sewed countless costumes for ice skaters and other performers. She was devoted to helping the Nicolayson Art Museum and Boys and Girls Club run an art therapy program for at-risk children. She also taught many art classes. A few include toll painting, water colors, knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
Dianne's life-purpose and philosophy was to give to others through her artistic talents, mentorship and community service. Her wisdom impacted so many because she loved helping others, and encouraged others by example to "Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars".
She was so very much loved and will always be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her niece, Nicole Walker; and her nephew, Steven Walker.
Dianne is survived by her loving family which includes her husband of 50 years, Curt Wartick; their daughter Candice Baker, husband Kenny Baker, granddaughter Payton, 14, grandson Sterling, 5; all of Casper, Wyoming. Her Canadian family includes her sister Peggy, husband Mark Merstorf, and their three children Michael, Amber, and Mandy; her sister Barb, husband Gordon McArthur and their two children Paige and Michelle, all of Calgary, Canada; her sister Linda, husband Jim Davidson of NaKausp, British Columbia; her sister Kathy and husband Cal McLaughlin and their two children Sommer and Curt; brother Jack Damery and wife Denise of Tamworth, Ontario, and Jack's two children Darrin and Jason of Creston, British Columbia.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Dianne's joyous life will be held in Casper, Wyoming at First United Methodist Church at 1 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015 with Senior Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at the church. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date in Calgary, Canada.
Memorial donations may be made in Dianne's name to "Reach 4A Star Riding Academy" (www.reach4astar.org) and their disabled riding program, in honor of her philosophy of volunteerism; and in honor of her granddaughter Payton who shared this philosophy and devoted several years to helping the riding program as a volunteer.
