Deward Gerdom, Sr., 79
Casper, Wyoming resident Deward ("Dewey") Wallace Gerdom, Sr., passed away on January 13, 2012 in Casper, Wyoming. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home.
Dewey was born in the Boxelder Apartments in Casper on July 25, 1932 to Joe and Evelyn Gerdom. He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1951. He served four years in the United States Navy following graduation. He was part of the VC-35 squadron and worked on an aircraft carrier equipped with "AD" Skyraiders. Following his Navy service, he married Ellen Noonan on August 10, 1957. Dewey and Ellen had two children, Susan and Deward Jr. Dewey was a paint contractor for 30 years and then worked for Bi-Rite drug after retiring from his painting business. Dewey loved to joke and make people smile. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, his son, and his son's wife, Toni Gerdom and their four children, Raelene, Deward Grant, Rachelle and Madison. He is also survived by Susan's children, Jacquelyn Christilles and Michael Jones and Jacquelyn's children Evelyn and Blake and Michael's children Kenzie and Taylor. He is also survived by his son-in-law Michael Charles Jones and his close friends' Bonnie and Steve Wilson. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J.L. Dode and Bill Gerdom, his daughter and his grandson, Patrick Jones.
