Derek Leo Wingerter, 29, of Casper passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 28, 2015 due to complications from diabetes.
A visitation will be held 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel and again from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the funeral home. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Ruzicka officiating.
Derek was born November 29, 1985 in Lusk, Wyoming to Terry Leo and Edwina Lee (Webb) Wingerter. He graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in May 2004. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, golf and float down the Platte River. He was a big hearted man and was loved by many. He never met a stranger with whom he didn't offer love and was helpful to all. Derek had many, many friends and the family particularly wishes to thank them all.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leo and Marge Wingerter of Casper; maternal grandparents, Frank and Frances Webb of Thermopolis, WY; Uncle Gerald "Boe" Wingerter of Denver, CO; and Larry Nickell of Casper.
Survivors include his father and mother of Casper; his brother, David, wife Lindsay and son, Sylas of Watford City, ND; numerous aunts and uncles; Eileen Nickell of Casper, Shyrl (Forrest) Moore of Centennial, CO; Rosalie (Jerry) Ressler of Casper, Norleen (Stu) Healy of Sheridan; Bonnie Pearsall (Richard) of Media, PA; Tom (Ann) Wingerter of Tulsa, OK; Karen (William) Cloud of Denver, CO and Joe (Lori) Wingerter of Elkhorn, NE and numerous cousins.
