Derek was born to Richard Creager and Diane Markworth on April 23rd, 1992. He grew up in Casper, WY and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 2010. He was active in theater and music, and had been a skateboarder since the age of 10.
He was passionate about music, from classical to hardcore, and wanted to study production in college, eventually entering a career in the music industry. One of his greatest influences was the hardcore band Alexisonfire. In 2010, he was able to meet the lead singer, Dallas Green, furthering his respect for their musical talent. Alexisonfire's song "To a Friend" held a special significance in his heart, so much so he had the line "It's nobody's battle but your own" tattooed on his chest as a reminder of the irony he faced.
Throughout his life, Derek had a serious case of wanderlust. From the age of 5 when he decided to walk to his dad's house across town, to 19 when he traveled to examine the eccentricities of the West Coast, Derek remained an explorer. This tendency to seek out new things allowed Derek to live life to the fullest, incorporating a unique perspective into all of his endeavors.
He was a true individual. Those who had the pleasure to know and love him were blessed with a wry sense of humor, and thoughts of an ironic hipster without pretense.
Derek is survived by his father Richard Creager of Casper, WY; his mother Diane Markworth of Riverton, WY; his sister Audrey Jaeger of Fort Collins, CO; his brother Jeff Jaeger of Casper, WY; his grandmother Barbara Jackson of Dewey, AZ; his uncles Tom and Jeff Creager and their families in Colorado and Wyoming; and his aunt Kathy Ray and her family in California.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Don and Beverly Creager, Grandfather Larry Jackson and Cousin Kyla Stein.
