Dennis was born, at home, west of Elyria, NE. Graduated from Valley County Schools and attended University of Nebraska. Served, in the Navy, from 1953-1957 (Korean War), Graduated from submarine school in New London, CN., earned his "Dolphins" in 1953 on the Entemdor SS340 and he received his honorable discharge at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, as CS3 Commissary 3rd Class. Then immediately entered the University of Minnesota where he got his Mortuary of Science Degree in 1958. Served his internship in Hastings, NE, worked in Lake View, IA and then joined a working relationship in Casper, WY, where he and Anne worked side by side until they retired in 1994. While living in Casper he was elected to Casper City Council, Natrona County Corner and president of WY Funeral Directors Association.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling to numerous places in US, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, Ireland, England, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Dennis loved going hunting with his son and grandson, as well as, camping trips with close friends and enjoyed doing Antique Shows and Flea Markets with his many mended and refurbished antiques. After retiring they wintered in Rockport, TX and then on to Yuma, AZ.
Dennis is survived by Son Kevin (Vera) Knopik of Casper, WY; Daughter Lynn Knopik (Roger) Bochmann of Papillion, NE; Grandson Gregory Knopik a Navel helicopter pilot; Granddaughter Mary Knopik of Casper; Step Granddaughter Jackie (Nichols) Simpson of Leander, TX; Two Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by Wife Anne; Parents John and Leona Knopik; Daughter Kelly Knopik.
Private memorial service will be held in Casper, WY on December 28, 2015 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors.
