On Tuesday, December 8th 2020, Debrah Joy Sohi, loving daughter, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 54 after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer.
Joy was born on May 24th, 1966 in Chicaco, IL to Scott and Joy (Paluck) Hogan. She is survived by her daughters Heideh and Haleh, and her mother Joy. Joy was known in her community for working at the Casper Humane Society, but more so, was known for how compassionate she was toward all of the animals, earning her a place as their own personal dog whisperer. She knew all of the animals and cared deeply for each of them, including her rat Agnes (who continues to live there, sometimes in front of the cat window).
Joy overcame a lot in her life. She was a fighter to the very end and refused to ever give up. This was reflected in her work with animals as she strove for every one to have the best life possible, no matter their baggage, and made sure that they all found their place. Her work was more than just a job; it gave her confidence and sparked a passion to love each of them as if they already had a home with her.
Per her last request, her ashes will be scattered across Mount Rainier in the springtime by her daughter Heideh, and dog, Precious.
