DEAN RUSSEL PARKHURST (1962-2006)
On January 20th, 2006 Dean was released from the restraints of the illness that had plagued him for more than seven years. He was an extremely gentle man, accepting and nonjudgmental. Despite the hardships that this disease wreaked upon him, he was able to maintain his wry sense of humor throughout, with very few complaints about his "lot in life" .
He spent the last weeks of his life in the care of the "Angels" at the Central Wyoming Hospice Program, who worked compassionately and tirelessly to make his last
days more comfortable. A heart-felt "Thank You" to these special people who give of themselves far beyond the requirements of the job.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a nephew, and two brothers, one of whom also succumbed to cancer only 72 hours earlier.
He is survived by his brother, Derrick, of Rawlins, his sister, April Lee, of Minnesota, his better looking brother, Darrell (private joke), of Casper, his sister, Cindy Weitzel of Las Vegas, his sister Linda Fox of Las Vegas, and last but certainly not least his estranged wife and his two sons Frankie Stewart, 17 and
Morgan Stewart-Parkhurst, 11.
Of all the grief his illness brought him, it never touched upon the sadness he felt over his separation from his children who were lost to him for the last eight years of his life. To quote the simplistic words of this otherwise eloquent man (from a letter to his sons which had no delivery address): "I miss You, I miss You, I miss You.. . . ".
This obituary is dedicated to his sons, in the hope that they will someday
know of his love for them, a love that carried him through more than seven years of an insidious illness in the vain hope that he'd be able to tell them in person one more time
"I Love You".
Dean, you are missed, and shall always be remembered
