Memorial services for Dave Dye 63 will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Homes in Casper. Dave passed peacefully in the early morning hours of December 6, 2012.
Dave was born to Shirley Bolton and Thomas Costello on April 20, 1949 and raised by Shirley and stepfather Robert Dye as the eldest of six children on their ranch near Ekalaka, MT where he gained a lifelong love of the outdoors and trees. Growing up Dave and family had the great pleasure of friendship and family members spread across the Montana and South Dakota border.
Dave attended schools in Ekalaka, Belle Fourche SD, and Newell SD where he met and married Ms. Amy Barber. Upon graduation from Newell High School 1968, Dave and Amy enjoyed the beginning of their married life and birth of daughter in Gillette Wyoming. Eventually they moved to Casper where Dave spent many years working in oil-fields before finding his true calling as conductor and engineer with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Dave retired from the BNSF in 2012 after 30 years. Throughout Dave's life the consistent elements of personal enjoyment were travel especially to areas of natural beauty, the company of great friends and appreciation for working in the great outdoors.
Dave is survived by one daughter, Nikki Rogers; four young grandchildren; five siblings and their families Anne Yates, Juanita Jo Gominsky, Robert (Chip) Dye Jr., Ward Dye and James Dye; and recently reunited siblings Janet Johnson and Steven Costello. He also leaves behind ex-wife and lifelong friend Amy Dye; close personal friend Linda Lanier and numerous cherished family members and friends.
