David Lawrence Cardenas, 68, lost his short battle with cancer on May 3, 2024, peacefully passing away at home, surrounded by his family.
Dave was the youngest of 13 children, born to Jose and Rachel Cardenas, in Clayton, New Mexico. His family relocated to Wyoming when Dave was very young.
After graduating from Douglas high School in 1974, Dave went to work in the Salt Creek Oil Field, starting with Amoco and retiring 40 years later from Anadarko.
Dave built a beautiful life in Casper, welcoming his beloved daughter, Mandi, into the world in 1975. In 1998, He married the love of his life, Sandy and added step-children Brian, Christina and Adam into the family.
Dave enjoyed golfing, playing pool and shooting darts. He forged many lifelong friendships through these activities. But, he was most in his element in the Captains seat of his boat, ferrying his grandchildren and great grandchildren around the lake.
Dave is survived by his wife Sandy, Daughter Mandi (Rob) Loughan, Step Children Brian (Jessica) Brehe, Christine (Austin) Armacost, Adam Brehe. Brother, Rick Cardenas, and sister, Joann Cardenas. Grandchildren: Cody Cagle, Shelton (Faith) Cagle, Emma Brehe, Gavin Smith, Brooklynn Armacost, Riley Brehe, Reagan Brehe, Gunner Brehe, Bailee Armacost Great Grandchildren: Koen Cagle, Nyxyann Miller and Cercie Cagle.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park, 8700 East US Hwy 20, US-26, Evansville, WY 82636.
