Darwin Elwood Jones, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Wyoming Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Highland Cemetery.
Darwin was born January 8, 1938 in Lusk, Wyoming to Thomas Lloyd and Margaret Arosa (Davis) Jones. In May 1949, Darwin moved to Casper, Wyoming with his parents and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1956. Darwin graduated from Casper Junior College in 1958 with an Associate of Arts degree in Civil Engineering.
On December 26, 1959, Darwin married Marilyn Jean Lamb at the First Methodist Church in Casper, Wyoming. A son, Kenneth Wayne, and a daughter, Karen Elizabeth, were born to the couple.
Darwin worked for Worthington and Lenhart Surveyors and the Paradise Valley Development Company prior to beginning his work with the construction division of the Wyoming State Highway Department at the Casper District Office on December 1, 1960. He retired from the Wyoming Department of Transportation on June 23, 1995 after more than 34 years of service to the State of Wyoming.
Darwin was an avid bowler. He was extremely proud of his second place finish in the 2000 ABC Senior National Championship in Reno, Nevada.
Darwin was proceeded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret Jones.
Surviving Darwin are his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; son, Ken Jones (Connie) of Laramie, Wyoming; daughter, Karen Palm (Michael) of Valparaiso, Indiana; grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Ethan Palm, and Erin Palm; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law including Virginia Rice who has been a very caring "sister" to Darwin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Blue Envelope Health Fund, P.O. Box 2177, Casper, WY 82602, or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
