Darrell 'Shorty' Satterfield

CASPER -- Services for Darrell "Shorty" Satterfield, 66, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Tom Saur from Grace Fellowship Church officiating and military honors accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming National Guard.

He died Aug. 10, 2007, at his home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Newcastle, the son of Willard Douglas Satterfield and Harriet Ilene (Schneider) Satterfield.

His family moved to Casper where he attended Dean Morgan Junior High and graduated from NCHS with the class of 1958.

He married Cherrill Morgan in 1962. They had two children and were later divorced.

He married Rosie Perry pm Feb 14, 1986, and they were divorced.

He entered the Army in November 1958 and served in Korea.

He returned to Casper and started his career in banking. He worked for Security Bank and Trust and was vice president of Equality Bank in Evansville.

He was treasurer of the Blue Envelope Health Fund starting in the early 1970s and continued for many years.

He was always willing to help anyone and had a big heart.

Survivors include his mother, Ilene Satterfield, Casper; son, Russell Satterfield, Glendale, Ariz.; daughter, Rochell Planty, Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Arlie Satterfield and wife Linda of Casper; a sister-in-law; two grandsons and one granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Williard Satterfield; two brothers, Marvin "Corky" Satterfield and W. Vance Satterfield and a niece.

Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, 82601, or a charity of the donor's choice.
