It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Darrel Lee “Lee” Hackleman, who left us on July 2nd, 2024 at the age of 72. He was discovered dead in his Casper, Wyoming home; an unexpected loss for many. Lee was born in 1951 in Greeley, Colorado.
Lee graduated Riverton High School in 1969. He continued with the Hackleman family legacy and farmed with his dad, brother and sons in the Riverview area until 1990. Then he attended college to study Agricultural Engineering and graduated with a Masters Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1992. He worked for the US government in the Natural Resources Conservation Service, where he obtained his license of Professional Engineering (P.E.) and later retired in 2017.
He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His passion for bowling, farming, gardening, swimming, fast cars and broncos will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his four children; Tara Lee Butcher (Bart) of Casper, Robert Darrel Hackleman (Launa) of Casper, Andrea Layn Shiers of Riverton, and Bryan James Hackleman of Casper. Three grandchildren; Aurora Bowden of Greeley, CO, Aydan Capshaw and Everett Hackleman of Casper. Three siblings; Peggy Forbis of Riverton, Lori Cook (Carl) of Riverton, and Barry Hackleman (Patty) of Riverton. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years just two months prior. Lee and Bobbie (Duthie) Hackleman were married on January 16th, 1977. They were each other’s rock. They made lifelong memories together in Riverton and Utah until settling in Casper, WY in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his father, James Darrel (J.D.) Hackleman and his mother Janet (Cook) Hackleman.
A celebration of Life and Remembrance will be Friday August 16th at 4:00 pm at the Elks Lodge in Riverton Wyoming.
