Danny L. Spurgin

Dan died peacefully in his home on May 26, 2018. He was born in Torrington, WY on March 31, 1943 to Melvin C. and Bessie M. Spurgin. At the age of 8 he moved to Glenrock, WY where he graduated from Glenrock High School in 1961. He then moved to Rapid City, SD and joined Ironworkers Local 454 as an apprentice, building Minute Man missile sites.

In 1962, he married Barb Means, and they had two daughters, Dana Lea and Michelle Renee, they then divorced in 1967. In 1969, he met and married Judy (Coleman) Morris and he gained another daughter, Tina (Morris) Hunter. In 1973, Dan began working for Mine Service Inc. in the mining industry; building walking draglines, shovels and haul trucks for the open pit mines in Rock Springs, WY. In 1975, Dan was transferred to New Bern, NC for a new project. During their time there, Dan enjoyed several deep-sea fishing excursions. He was then transferred to Evansville, IN where he was a project manager building the world's largest dragline at the time (Big Bertha). While living in Evansville the family welcomed a son, Danny C., born in August 1977.

While living in Evansville he took flying lessons to obtain his private pilot's license. Dan and the family returned to Casper in August 1980. Dan and Judy started Installation & Service Company in 1981, which is still owned and operated today by the family. In 1983, Dan and Judy legally adopted their youngest son, Steven Lee.

Dan enjoyed several hobbies in his life such as gun collecting, woodworking, car collecting, farming and agriculture as well as fishing and camping. Aviation was also a lifetime long interest of Dan's, he spent countless hours reading aviation books and dreaming of owning his own plane one day.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, daughter; Dana Lea, one brother, one sister as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Lee, his daughters; Michelle Hawkins (Trey) of Casper, WY and Tina Hunter (Joe) of Cheyenne, WY, his sons; Danny C. (Niki) and Steven Lee (Kati) of Casper, WY and brother John (Susan) Clingman of Magnolia, TX and sister Beverly (Gordon) Eggers of Littleton, CO along with seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins including Gladys Eisenbarth of Yoder, WY.

Dan was a hard worker who took pride in a job well done. He lived his life to the fullest with good times and hard work. He provided many lasting memories for family and friends at the lake, in the mountains and at his home. He will be greatly missed and loved by the ones lucky enough to have known him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Spurgin home on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. All who wish to attend are welcome. Cremation has taken place.
