Danny Dean "Dan" Mangus, 62, Casper WY, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. While his leaving us was unexpected, we take comfort in the fact he is now secure in his heavenly home.
Dan was born July 10, 1958 in Casper, Wyoming to Danny L. Mangus and Sharon G. (Linville) Mangus. After graduating from Glenrock High School in 1976 Dan attended Northern State College in Aberdeen SD where he was a member of the Northern State Wolves baseball team. For many years Dan worked at the Glenrock Power Plant. To all who knew Dan his passion for the outdoors, hunting, his dogs, and coaching was very apparent. Many young people developed their athletic skills under Dan's patient, consistent guidance. Other young people were the unexpected recipients of bows, arrows, camouflage clothing, backpacks, hiking poles, fishing lures, and a myriad of other items needed to experience outdoor adventures. Dan's generosity wasn't just limited to young people. Because of Dan's willingness to share, many adults have enjoyed outstanding hunting, fishing, and backpacking opportunities as well. Dan's love for dogs was inspiring to witness and best summed up by his sister Terra when she was writing Dan a reference for adopting a dog. Her response to one of the questions was simply "Lucky dog" Truly Dan's dogs were as fortunate to know him as we were.
Dan is survived by his wife, Susan Mangus; Dan's Dog Buddy; his children: Erik (Crystal) Alberts of Casper WY and their children Brayden and Rylie; Brady Mangus of Glenrock WY; Chase Mangus of Casper WY; parents: Danny and Sharon Mangus of Glenrock, WY; siblings: Terra (Michael) Oakley of Casper, WY; Guy (Lori Palmer) Mangus of Glenrock, WY and their children Bayleigh and Braeden; Dan's Step Children Sage (Cory) Oglesby and children Jack and Layton; Jenny (Andy) Kiehl and children Shelby and Weston; John (Kelby) Propp and children Jacob, Reagan and Justin; Bailey Propp.
Dan was preceded in death by his son Kevin Paul Alberts and his grandparents Clifford and Iris Mangus.
With gratitude the family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to an account to be established at Lifetime Fitness in Dan's name prior to the service. It is our family's heart to provide for the youth athletic programs or daily entrance fees for the youth in our community whose family may not be able to afford membership. Details to be updated.
