Dan Miller passed away on April 14, 2009, at his home on the river in West Casper, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Dan was 53 years old. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Highland Park Community Church. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm in Newcomer Funeral Home.

Dan was born October 15, 1955, in Casper to Mary and Clayton Miller. He was one of two children.
He attended school in Casper, graduating from Natrona County High in 1974, followed by two years at Northwest Nazarene College and two more at UW. After college he and his father formed Miller Backhoe Service and worked in construction for several years. Later he worked for the Casper-Alcova Irrigation District eventually rising to General Manager, a capacity in which he served until the late 1980s. Dan then acquired his insurance licenses and worked for the Jonathan Schrack Insurance Agency until his death, eventually rising to partner.
Dan loved fishing and, before his illness, spent many days traversing the streams, rivers and lakes of Wyoming. He had a special affinity for Alcova and for several decades could be found fishing on or around Alcova on his off days. Dan loved his family and often included them on fishing and boating excursions. And Dan loved his Lord and extended church and faith family.
He is survived by his wife, Zantha and their two young children, Hannah (11) and Nathan (7) all of Casper; his mother Mary Miller of Casper and Fort Worth and sister Jane Anderson (Jim) and their four children John Mark (21), Clay (18), Jenna (12) and Ginger (7) of Fort Worth; his uncle Edwin Rhodes of Yuma, AZ and Folsom, CA; cousin Laurie Kroger (Ken) and their four children of Folsom, CA; his aunt Dorothy Miller and cousin Renee Cunning both of Redding CA and by various other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Albert Miller and cousin Sue Rhodes both of Casper and by aunt Dolly Rhodes of Yuma, AZ and by various other aunts and uncles.
