Daniel "Boone" Lawrence Chopping
A Memorial service for Wyoming native, Daniel L Chopping, 68, who died Jan 19, 2024 after a long illness, will be held at Faith Bible Chapel on Saturday January 27, 2024 at 10 am. Reception following services.
Dan was born with his twin brother Samuel Charles Chopping on Dec 23, 1955 at Wyoming Memorial Hospital in Casper Wyoming to Mary Violet and Samuel Lawrence Chopping.
Dan grew up in Casper attending Park Elementary, Dean Morgan Junior High and Natrona County High School graduating in 1975. In his senior year at Natrona County High School he was the ROTC Lt. Cadet Colonel.
He attended Casper College majoring in computer science. The Natrona County School District hired him as a computer programmer in 1976. He had a very successful career until his retirement. He frequently volunteered his computer expertise to many Casper organizations. He also was a volunteer for the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission.
Dan enlisted with the Wyoming National Guard Reserve for a number of years until his honorable discharge.
In the summer of 1982 he met the love of his life. He married Sara Beth Oltmann on Aug 13, 1983 in Janesville Wisconsin.
Dan was very active at Faith Bible Chapel Church and Gideons International.
Dan enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, marksmanship and driving his loved Corvette. He always said "Life is too short to drive a boring car!".
Survivors include his wife, Sara of forty years. Two brothers, Dallas with wife Emma Chopping and Sam with wife Cindy Chopping. He had three nephews, Christopher, Lonnie, and Casey Chopping.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Faith Bible Chapel, 504 N Forest Dr, Casper, WY 82609. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in Dan's memory to Gideons International.
