Dan William Levar, 49, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015.
He was born to Paul and Irene Levar, on June 9, 1966 in Casper, Wyoming. Dan graduated from Kelly Walsh High School and received a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Wyoming in 1989. He played football and lacrosse during those years.
Dan had worked as a programmer analyst for GE Capital Corporation. He was then employed by Sprint for the past 13 years and was currently working as a business analyst in Overland Park, Kansas. He was a great teammate and friend and will be greatly missed by his coworkers.
Dan grew up in the Star Wars and Dungeons and Dragons era, games that he enjoyed when young. Photography and dark room film development were activities he enjoyed before the age of digital photography. Dan had many PC games and even more books that filled his time and his house. He enjoyed following sports, especially football and baseball. He endured the family rivalries between Denver and Seattle with the Kansas City teams.
Dan is survived by his mother Irene of Casper, WY; brother Paul Levar of Spokane, WA; sister Ilona Maguire of Cheyenne, WY ; sister Kate Von Loh of Windsor, CO; nieces April (Lonnie) Marcum and Leah Levar and their families. He is preceded in death by his father Paul.
We will miss his smile and chuckling at a good joke, his dry sense of humor, and ability to take a ribbing about his sports teams records.
If desired, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, September 29, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Casper, WY. A celebration of life in the Kansas City area will also be planned for a later date.
