Dan E Allen was born August 29, 1952, in Wheatridge Colorado, and departed this earth
on June 20, 2023 in Casper Wyoming.
Dan was like the energizer bunny, always moving from the day he learned to walk. He
worked and played hard and gave his all, whether as a kid growing up, or as a father,
husband, and most definitely as a Soldier in the Army. Sports were a big part of his life
while growing up, from playing football (later coaching), to playing baseball, water
skiing, and snow skiing. He lived life to the fullest and though he was gone from us too
soon, will never be forgotten.
Dan was known to everyone as a humble leader. He was a family leader, a military
leader, and a genuine confidant. While facing some normal, and some extraordinary
adversities in life, he acted with consistent selflessness, grace, and poise. From his
entry in the United States Army in 1969, and continued honorable service to our Nation
until 1995, he represented all that is good in our world. He honed skills necessary for life
and National defense as a Special Forces Engineer, earning a position among the most
elite, and his Green Beret. These skills and subsequent lessons shaped Dan into an
unparalleled and servant leader. Dan's military commendations include the Combat
Infantryman's Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army
Good Conduct Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon,
Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit
Citation with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Parachute Rigger Badge, and Royal Thai
Army Airborne Wings. His military education includes Noncommissioned Officer
Academy training through Sergeant First Class, Airborne School, and Special Forces
Selection and Qualification Courses.
While continuing through his life outside of the military, Dan positioned the most
important thing to the forefront of priorities, and that was his family. He relayed priceless
lessons and knowledge to his siblings, children, grandchildren, and friends, all the while,
wanting nothing but happiness and success for everyone he encountered.
Dan will be remembered for his countless anecdotes such as, "I know things may be
tough, but you just have to keep putting one boot in front of the other," or "no matter
where you go in life, there you are." He also knew how to lighten the mood by providing
one of hundreds of one-liner movie quotes from his favorite films. Dan is survived by his
wife Wendie, sisters Linda and Barbara, and children Luke, Cody, and Montana. Dan
was a man of immeasurable love, dedication, and will be forever missed.
