Constance (Connie) May Conolly passed away at Wyoming Medical Center in the early morning hours of May 21st 2014. She had suffered from dementia and other health problems for many years.
She was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada on November 3rd, 1921 to May (Shaw) and John A. Wilson who immigrated to Canada from Kilsyth, Scotland. She was the youngest of seven children. At the age of ten, Connie began violin studies with Mrs. Jessica Burton, a native of England and a graduate of the Paris Conservatory of Music. At the same age, she commenced the study of voice with the well-known voice teacher, Luther Roberts, also a British native. At the age of sixteen, Connie began her several years of association with a local radio station during which she had her own weekly music program. Connie was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and was the recipient of many first place awards at Canadian music competitions. She subsequently was on the teaching faculty of music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she met her future husband, Bernard W. Conolly.
They later settled in Glenrock and Casper, Wyoming, where Bernard taught high school and Connie had many violin and piano students. She also taught in the Natrona County School District as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Casper Symphony Orchestra for many years. She and "Bernie" performed as a violin and piano duo at various venues in Casper. Audiences appreciated their unique style of classical and jazz music. To hear Connie play the violin so passionately or hear her beautiful soprano voice was a wonderful experience.
Connie excelled in all the needle arts, producing not only finely tailored clothing and embroidery but also beautiful Irish crochet. She was also an accomplished artist, preferring oils and pencil.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings and husband. She leaves two daughters, Anne-Marie Conolly of Casper, and Sheila (Jerry) McKin of Denver, Colorado.
Her daughters are in the process of establishing a scholarship fund in Constance and Bernard Conolly's name for deserving music majors at Casper College.
