Clifford LeRoy Johnson, 85, of Glenrock, Wyoming, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023.
He was born to the late Ernest "Buck" and Lucille Johnson on December 11, 1938, in Sturgis, South Dakota. Cliff graduated from Sturgis High School in Sturgis, South Dakota in 1957.
Cliff was a cowboy. He lived and loved the western lifestyle. He was the 1957 South Dakota State High School Rodeo Steer Wrestling Champion.
He married the late Juanita "2D" (Schweigert) in 1963. Cliff was an Ironworker Local #454 his entire life. Cliff and 2D settled in Rapid City, South Dakota from 1969 – 1978. They relocated to Glenrock, Wyoming, Thanksgiving 1978, and lived there for the rest of their life.
Cliff found immense joy in loving, encouraging, and supporting his family and friends. He enjoyed rodeoing and following the journey of his favorite athletes. He was passionate about horse racing. He won several horse racing awards with his racehorse, SPOTMEACORONA. He had a great eye for influential bloodlines and raised performance Quarter Horses.
Cliff is survived by his daughter, Donene (Stan) Taylor, of Glenrock, Wyoming; He is survived by his 2 grandchildren, Hunter Taylor, of Glenrock Wyoming; and Roper Taylor, of Casper, Wyoming. Cliff is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lucille Johnson; his wife, 2D Johnson, as mentioned above, and his son, Dr. Justin Lee Johnson.
Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023, at 1 pm.
