CASPER -- At her request, there will be no services for Cleone V. McCready, 96, who died June 9, 2007, at Life Care Center. Cremation has taken place.
She was born Aug. 8, 1910, in Platte, S.D., the daughter of Claude and Amye Goodyear. She was raised and went to school in Gregory, S.D.
She married her high school sweetheart, Hilbert L. McCready, in Nebraska on Nov. 4, 1928. They started farming in Gregory, S.D., until they were no longer able to cope with the dust bowl storms and the grasshoppers. Taking there three children, they headed west to find a new home. They stopped in Casper in the spring of 1936 and never left.
For 71 years, she was a devoted wife to H.L. McCready, who passed away June 16, 1999.
She was the most wonderful and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her whole life to her family, they always came first, she was the pillar of the family.
Survivors include a daughter, ShirlAnn and husband, Alan L. Sword of Casper, nine grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, husband, one son, Leroy and one daughter, Delores "Dee" Bordeaux.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wyoming.
