Claudia J. Evans

December 11, 1939 — August 10, 2014

Claudia J. Evans passed away Sunday August 10, 2014 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with COPD.

Claudia was born on December 11, 1939 to Fred and Annabelle (Tribble) Thompson in Midwest WY where she lived until moving to live with her grandparents on their Missouri homestead. Eventually she returned to Midwest and lived with her beloved Aunt Lelia and Uncle Marvin Myhre until moving again to live with her stepparents, Dan and Ruby Nolan in Riverton, where she graduated from high school in 1958. These were very difficult years for Claudia but she was an exceptionally strong young woman and overcame much adversity to make a good life for herself and her family.

In 1961 Claudia married Don Haney and together they raised 3 children until they divorced. In 1979 she married Bernard "Bernie" Laur and together they raised Bernie's two daughters and spent their leisure time hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, boating, etc. After 12 years together Bernie's life was cut short in a tragic snowmobiling accident. Claudia was heartbroken but mustered her strength to pick up the pieces once again by keeping busy as a bookkeeper for True Oil Company and continuing her outdoor pursuits with her close friends and family. In 2002 she met Everett Evans and they married in 2003. She and Everett enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing together as long as their health allowed.

In addition to outdoor activities , Claudia enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her and Everett's yard is an oasis in the middle of the desert; home to many birds and flowers, a rose garden, shade trees ad even a few vegetables. She was also an avid fisherwoman and loved to fish the lakes and streams all over Wyoming. In later years Claudia and Everett spent summers at Pathfinder Boat Club where he was camp host and she was club treasurer, a position she thoroughly enjoyed for the social and mental stimulation.

Claudia is survived by her loving husband, Everett Evans of Casper; three children, Linda Reynolds of Jacksonville, FL., Carolyn Sheilds (Roger) of Daniel WY, and Don Haney (Erica) of Casper WY; Stepchildren, Tara Erin, Rick of Riggins, ID, Randie and wife Jackie of Casper, WY, Ron of Casper, WY; Grandchildren, Nathaniel, Sara and Allen; great grandchildren Gabe and Acelyn; brother, Raymond Thompson; brother in law, Dean (Myrna) Evans of Odessa, TX; and mother in law, Elaine Ross of Casper, WY; and many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Aunt Lelia and Uncle Marvin, her younger brother, and many aunts and uncles and cousins.
