Charline Alta Hoffman Ross was born October 3, 1939, in Casper, Wyoming. She was the third daughter of Charles and Wilma Hoffman. She was involved in 4-H, Civil Air Patrol, and Synchronized Swimming.
After graduating from Natrona County High School in 1958, Charline joined the Air Force, where she received training as a dental hygienist. She returned to Casper, where she met Tom Ross. They were married April 24, 1965. They had four children, Michael, Tammy, Tim, and Teena. Charline lived all of her life at her home on E. 22nd St., except for 6 years in Cody, Wyoming. Of note in Cody, Charline even drove Bear Tooth Pass!!
As an adult, Charline became the compassionate care giver to many family members. She provided care for her sister in law; father in law; sister, Nora Rose; and her mom and dad, and then worked caring for others in the community.
Char had an artistic flair, starting with painting figurines and lamps, tole painting, and decorating Mom's kitchen cupboards. She learned quilting while in Cody, and had a fantastic flair for color on precise quilt patterns.
She loved family gatherings, and had such pride in her children. Grandchildren, of course, brought such joy to Char, and she utilized the bragging privilege given by God to Grandmothers.
Perhaps, as her family and friends know, Char greeted us with "Good Morning, sunshine". That sweet expression was part of her dimpled smile, and blue eyes looking directly at you, and was given to one and all she encountered. She accompanied the greeting usually with a sincere compliment such as "You have such a beautiful name"; "Your eyes are beautiful"; because she said that may be the nicest thing you heard that day.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ella Hoffman and Nora Rose Van Burgh; brother, Guy Hoffman; and her husband, Thomas E. Ross.
She is survived by her children, Michael E. Ross, Tammy (Tom) Smith, Timothy (Valerie) Ross, and Teena (Scott) Bland; grandchildren, Josh Bland, Jennifer (Mike) Blanda, Bryony Ross, Hayden Ross, Alex Carpenter, Kaylee (Sam) Langager, and Shawn Smith; great grandchildren, Ryan and Allison Blanda, Cato, Bryson, and Maci Langager; sister, Marilyn Osse; brother, Don (Ty) Hoffman; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
