Charles E. Pope, Iii

September 24, 1945 — December 8, 2021

Charles Edward Pope, III, age 76, went to be with the Lord on December 8th, 2021, at home with his soulmate and best friend at his side. He was born September 24th, 1945 to Mary Mederios and Charles Edward Pope, Jr. in Washington, D.C.

He attended schools in Houston, TX and Casper, WY.

He served in the Navy from 1963 to 1966 on the USS Ranger in Vietnam. After the Navy, he traveled around and made his way back to the gulf coast where his immediate family lived.

He loved sea food, sunsets, the smell of the ocean, and ice cream. He was an exceptional pool shooter and, while on the west coast, he met Rudolf Wanderone.

Ed traveled back to Wyoming, where he met his best friend and soulmate Sandra Manning (Burtch). They then married in Casper on May 4th, 1963.

He was blessed with 7 children in his life, Chuck, Candie, Louie, Steven, Jason, Marcia, and Eddie, and 28 grandchildren.

Ed wanted his children to know that the important things in life were integrity, honesty, trust, love, friendships, self-respect, and morals.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator, welder, and was certified in all phases, such as oil rigs, pipelines, and medical instruments. He then met his passion for traveling as a semi-truck driver from coast-to-coast, bought his own Peterbuilt, and became a CDL instructor.

Ed and Sandy enjoyed each other's company and always had each other's back as they journeyed through 48 years of life together.

Services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.
