Charles "Charlie" Robert Masur died peacefully at hisMountain home on Casper Mountain, Friday, March 29, 2013 after a short bout with lung cancer. He was born to Charles and Elizabeth Masur on Sept. 10, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from North Catholic HS in 1944 and immediately joined the Army Air Corps during the end of WWII. After his return from war he attended Duquesne University in Pgh. He worked for Goodyear, US Rubber and retired from Rexnord Conveyor Systems in 1996, finishing his career as an airport material handling specialist.
He married Carol (Amon) Masur, Sept. 4, 1948 and moved his wife and daughter to Youngstown, Ohio. It was there they gave service to St. Anne's Parish. His wife Carol retired from Gallagher Insurance in 1995 and he retired soon after. Their youngest son, Matthew W. Masur died suddenly in 1995 and they mourned his loss deeply.
Charlie and Carol celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998 with a huge gathering of family and friends. Carol passed away in 2001. Charlie moved to Casper in 2003 to be near his daughter. They went on the May, 2011 Honor Flight to see the WWII monument, a trip both of them thoroughly enjoyed.
