Charles Junior Jones, 90, of Casper, passed away on January 28, 2014 peacefully at his home in Casper, Wyoming. He was born in Salt Creek, Wyoming on June 14, 1923 to Charles Jones and Allene Shidler.
He moved to Casper at a young age and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1942. He was active in the ROTC and joined the Navy in 1942. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946.
He met Helen Worlick after his military service. During their 20 years of marriage they had 3 children; Kathy Pons, Mary Hick, and Michael Jones.
He met Alice Gilstrap in 1977 and they lived together until her passing in 2004. During their life together they helped raise Shae Thomas. After Alice's death she remained living with PAPA until she left for college in 2012 to Laramie. He was very proud of her and the lady she had become.
Chuck was well known throughout Casper as an ornery old man that loved to give people a bad time. He loved his breakfast time at Johnny J's and would meet up with his good friends at open daily. He was never seen without his cigar hanging from his mouth. He was always in his yard working his flower beds and pulling weeds. He loved when people would stop by and visit and always had a seat waiting for them in the garage. When he got worried or stressed out he would climb in his pick-up and just drive (top speed 25) and listen to the 50's music on the radio. His eyes starting to fail him in the last 2-3 years and driving was something all his friends wanted him to give up. He never did! He had a few very close friends that he loved and respected and would have done anything for. They all know who they are.
He was a jack of all trades and had many jobs. He was proudest of his Military service, his Deputy service with the Sheriff's office, and work with Blue Streak Delivery Service. He retired at the age of 85 and loved working in his yard.
He is preceded in death by long time partner, Alice Gilstrap; two sisters, Charlene and Katheryn; one grandchild; and a daughter-in-law.
He is survived by his three children; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren of his marriage to Helen. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Shae Thomas from his time with Alice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Chuck's name.
