Charles "Chuck" DeGroot

March 16, 1964 — December 15, 2024

Chuck DeGroot was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey in 1964. He graduated from high school there. He met Wendy in East Brunswick, New Jersey May of 1989 and they were together ever since (Monica it was all your fault.). They married during the blizzard of February 1993. They moved to Pennsylvania in 1994. Chuck became a Ford Senior Master Diesel Tech. soon there after.

In 1996 they welcomed their first child Bri DeGroot into the world. Soon there after came William and Timmy. They moved around a bit in Pennsylvania. Eventually the took a huge leap and landed in the state they called home Wyoming. Wyatt was born in Wyoming several months after they moved. He is the only Wyoming-born of the family. This was in 2007.

Chuck loved Wyoming and everything about it. From the hunting and fishing to the gun laws. This state fit like a glove for him. He and a couple friends built "The Shed" a place Chuck loved to hang like no other. He made a some dear friends. You know who you are. Chuck didn't need many friends just good ones and one was even the best. He and all his family were adopted into the Proudfoot clan where Mary became his "mom".

Chuck was involved with the Elks Lodge here in Casper and this year he served as Exalted Ruler. He learned a lot as an officer and ER of Casper Elks Lodge. He loved the charities involved with the lodge especially the Christmas Dinner baskets. He made friends at the state level at the state conventions. The Elks brought him out of his shell. Good or bad he spoke his mind. He always meant what he said and said what he meant.

Chuck is survived by his wife of almost 32 years Wendy; his oldest Bri (and significant other Skyler); sons, William; Tim (and fiancé Maya); and Wyatt. He is also survived by his brother, Allan DeGroot; and cousins, aunts, and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Walter DeGroot.

His gathering will be January 4, 2025 at 1pm at Casper Elks Lodge, 108 East 7th Street, Casper WY, 82601 in the ballroom. A main dish will be provided. Please bring a side, appetizer, or dessert if possible. Chuck's favorite color was purple. He wasn't about dressing fancy. Wear purple if you can.
