Charles C. Wilcox (93) died at Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Charles was born on July 11, 1921 in Shelton, NE to Chester and Norma Wilcox. During World War II he served in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist until his discharge in 1946. He earned an undergraduate degree in Education from the Kearney State Teacher's College in Kearney, NE and subsequently obtained a Masters Degree in Industrial Arts from the Colorado State Teacher's College in Greeley, CO.
On May 25, 1947 he married June Spellman of Sprague, NE. They moved to Stapleton, NE where he was a teacher until 1953 when they relocated to Casper, WY. Charles then went to work for the Standard Oil of Indiana Refinery Division which was later know as Amoco from which he retired as Chief Operator in 1982.
Upon his retirement he renewed his interest in woodworking and spent many hours volunteering at Meals on Wheels as well as Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park. He and his wife traveled extensively and especially enjoyed their trips to Europe and Russia.
He is survived by his wife, June Wilcox of Casper, WY. They would have been married 68 years on May 25th. He has one brother, Marlyn Wilcox and wife, Beverly of Pilot Point, Texas. Charles and June have two children, Jane Baker and husband, Don Baker of Casper, WY and Jon Wilcox and wife, Ann Brubaker Wilcox of Denver, CO. They also have three grandchildren, Katie Wilcox of Casper, WY, David Wilcox and wife, Stephanie of Denver, CO and Andrew Wilcox of Denver, CO.
Cremation has taken place and at his request private services will be held at a later date with interment to take place at the Oregon Trail State Veteran's Cemetery in Casper, WY.
