Charleen Mary Stransky, age 96, of Casper, WY, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center, Casper.
She was born June 12, 1919, in Casper, to Joseph and Elizabeth Fisher. She grew up in Cheyenne, WY and graduated high school from Mother of the Holy Child, now known as St. Mary's Catholic School.
On November 20, 1944, she married Clarence Edward Stransky at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cheyenne. He preceded her in death November 17, 1977.
Mrs. Stransky worked at the Office of Price Administration, OPA, during WWII. She was a homemaker. When her youngest child started school, she began working at the Natrona County Clerk's Office as the deputy clerk. She retired in 1981. Following retirement, she worked for many years in the office of the St. Anthony's Shepard's Staff, Casper.
She attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church for most of her life. She was an active member and past president of St. Anthony's School Mother's Club, the Bishop's Guild, St. Gerard's Circle, the Alter and Rosary Society, the Wyoming Council of Catholic Women and the Democratic Women's Club. She was known in the community as the "Hat Lady" and presented her show for numerous clubs.
Mrs. Stransky loved to travel and was able to take some amazing trips. She traveled to Egypt, the Holy Land, Greece, and twice to Rome. She also took a few cruises and bus trips around the United States with her sister, Juanita and dear friend, Marie Dalgarno
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by four sons, Michael and Carolyn Stransky, Salt Lake City, UT, Patrick Stransky, Casper, Dennis and Sharron Stransky, Mesa, AZ, and Timothy and MaryFrances Stransky, Princeton, IN; three daughters, Elizabeth and Bob Chaput, Casper, Mary Eileen and Noah Riley, Fargo, ND, and Maureen and Rick Dye, Casper; 21 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, Saturday, January 30, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Casper. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be from 3 pm until the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 pm, Friday, January 29, at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel, Casper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church or St. Joseph's Society for Retired Priests in Charleen's memory or charity of donor's choice.
