Chania "Chani" Marie Kempa passed away peacefully at Wyoming Medical Center on July 23, 2012. She was born in Great Falls, Montana on November 19, 1954, the daughter of William John Kempa and Dorothea Marie Kempa (Kummers). She resided in Casper, Wyoming but enjoyed traveling.
Chani graduated from Charles M. Russel High School in 1973. She received an associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming. She loved working with children and earned a CDL Class-B license to become a school bus driver. She was a Jill-of-all-trades and had experience in numerous areas which included: Cosmetology, security management and any job related to caring for children.
She had a home-makers heart and a gypsy's soul. She was active in A.A. maintaining 16 years of sobriety, helping many others recover along the way and always keeping her relationship with God pure. She enjoyed motorcycles and the outdoors, especially the beach. She loved being a mom and was considered a mother to many – taking in anybody off the street and treating them like one of her own. After many years of traveling, she settled in Casper, Wyoming to be near her daughter Billie-Jean and to become a full-time, professional Grandma to her grandson Carson.
Chani was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothea.
She is survived by her children: Jeremy (Angie), Shane, and Billie-Jean (Zach), grandson Carson, father William, step-mother Sandy, sisters: Pam (Jay) and Marianne (Rob), brother Jeff, close niece Andrea and nephew Colter, and soul mate Pete. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held in Great Falls, Montana on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
