Catherine Cross Alexander passed away Thursday morning January 22, 2015 in Casper, Wyoming. She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on September 27, 1928 to Albert J. and Katherine (Moore) Cross. She was raised in Hutchinson and after graduating from high school she attended Hutchinson Community College, graduating in 1948. While attending college she met Howard (Alex) Alexander and they were married on May 27, 1950. They moved to Manhattan, Kansas where Alex attended Kansas State. While Alex was earning his degree in Geology, Cathy worked for the federal government.
In June of 1951, Alex went to work for Pure Oil in Billings, Montana. The oil business took them from Billings to Sheridan, WY, Durango, CO, Casper, WY, Midland & Houston TX. In January of 1966 they returned to Casper for good. Cathy was active in GeoWives and Service League. She managed Marilyn Fabrics for many years where she perfected her sewing talents and made beautiful clothing. She was an avid bridge player, loved tennis & golf and was a fabulous cook and party planner.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Dave) Ewart of Casper and Carla (John) Brewster of Dublin, CA, granddaughter Alexandra (Jared) Petrino of Spearfish, SD; brother Ronald (Jolene) Cross of Hutchinson, KS; nephew John (Janise) Cross and their children Annamarie & PJ of Middleton, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Virginia Kemp, and brothers Stanley and Jack Cross.
At her request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wyoming Cares, PO Box 2575, Casper, WY 82602 are requested.
