CASPER -- Mass of Christian Burial for Gillette resident Catherine Barrett, 90, will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Visitation in Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 6; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.
Visitation at Newcomer Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Casper is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, with a vigil/prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
She died Aug. 3, 2005, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, of natural causes.
Born March 2, 1915, in Hartford, Conn., she was the daughter of Hannah (Burke) and Elmer Dean; and moved to Casper in 1917 with her family. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1932.
On June 5, 1937, she married Roy Barrett in Casper.
They lived here until 1953, when they moved to Dubois. In 1958, they settled in Riverton, where she worked for Style Craft Interiors. Her husband preceded her in death in 1967, after 30 years of marriage.
In 1970, she returned to Casper. She was employed by Burke Furniture, Natrona Service, Coleman Equipment, and St. Anthony School.
In 1996, she moved to Gillette to be nearer her sons.
She was on the Campbell County Senior Center board of directors; was a member of the Council of Catholic Women; and was a charter member of the Bishop's Guild of Casper. For 25 years, she led the Catholic Women's Retreat Group.
An avid John Elway and Denver Broncos fan, she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing bridge and other card games, and visiting with friends.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Barrett and Dan Barrett and his wife of Gillette and John Barrett of Houston; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Chester Dean; and a son, Frank Barrett.
