Carolyn Hooper Dame

January 1, 1925 — December 19, 2020

Carolyn Hooper Dame, Casper native and lifetime resident, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020. Born January 1, 1925 to Clayburn and Emma Hooper, she attended McKinley School and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1943 in the midst of World War II. She worked in the medical laboratory at Memorial Hospital before becoming a dental assistant. A family friend, Ray D. Dame Jr., worked in the same building as a pharmacist and they became inseparable. They were married in 1950 and celebrated 56 years before his passing in 2006.

After retiring and selling their drug stores in Casper, they traveled often and entertained family and friends on the boat they summered at Yellowstone Lake. Carolyn's favorite trip was a flight aboard the Concorde to England. She was a gracious hostess and spent much of her free time with life-long friends. She was also a wonderful cook and bonded with her daughter and granddaughter in the kitchen preparing formal meals and baking treats. She especially loved being in nature, gardening, and documenting her many adventures with Ray through photography.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Leora V. Miles, Robert C. Hooper, and James E. Hooper. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Steve) Sharon; granddaughter, Bridget Sharon; a nephew; and a niece.

A private memorial and celebration of life will be held for Carolyn at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made in her honor to Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions or the Casper Humane Society.
