Caroline E. Mahaffey, 90, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
She was born on April 2, 1933 in Scobey, Montana to Samuel and Lucy Olson.
Caroline was raised on a wheat farm that bordered the Canadian boarder. She graduated 1951 from Scobey High School. A few years after she graduated she met the love of her life, Loyd Mahaffey and they married in 1953. Together they had three children, Debbie, Lloyd and Kevin.
Loyd's job in the oil field caused the family to relocate and settle in Casper Wyoming in 1962.
The young family loved to spend time at the Alcova Reservoir. They were members of the ski club, they boated and fished all summer long. She loved to dance and taught country western dancing with her daughter at the Beacon, the Bronco and Whiskey River in Las Vegas.
In 1970 Loyd's health declined and Caroline had to work while she studied for her Realtor License to support her family. She became a Broker and loved her job so much she work until she was 75 years old. She owned and operated Skyline Realty and New Horizons Realty. At the later part of her career, her son Kevin joined her real estate team.
After her retirement, Caroline loved the Wyoming outdoors, taking the dogs to the mountain, fishing and traveling all over the West. Caroline had a soft spot for animals, dogs and cats, but especially cats.
Caroline is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd of 25 years; her daughter, Debbie Mahaffey; granddaughter, Summer Star Mahaffey; and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Lloyd Mahaffey of Farmington, NM and Kevin Mahaffey of Casper; grandchildren, Tara, Derrick, Vanisha, Daniel and Bonnie; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Lee Iwen; brothers, Alvin Olson and Selmer Olson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:0 0AM, Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the funeral home with Interment to follow at Wyoming Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Casper.
