Carol B. Knox was born November 28, 1911, in Mason City, Iowa, and passed away on January 7, 2009. Carol was born to Hazel Banton Burr and Howard Bowman Burr, and was named Carol Alberta Burr. Six months after her birth, the family moved to Waterloo, Iowa. Carol was educated in Waterloo, and graduated from East High School. She also attended and graduated from Business College in Des Moines, Iowa.
Carol was married to John C. Knox on August 3, 1935, in Galena, Illinois, in Grants Pew Church. Mr. and Mrs. Knox lived on Sansousi Island in the Cedar River. Carol was president of The Women's Club in association with The Junior League in Waterloo, Iowa. Mrs. Knox was also active in P.E.O., and a member of The Daughter's of the American Revolution.
In 1945, Carol and John bought and moved to Remount Ranch in Wyoming. They operated the guest and working horse/cattle ranch until 1964. Carol and John then moved to Denver, Colorado (Cherry Creek). There they founded Manufacturer's Research and Jet Bird Conveyor Services. Carol and John retired in 1988, and moved to Casper, Wyoming. Mrs. Knox enjoyed boating, fishing, golf, cards (especially bridge), and football. Carol was an avid Bronco's fan and followed them from their conception.
Carol B. Knox was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hazel Burr; mother-in-law, Florence Clay Knox; daughter-in-law, Polly Lou Knox; husband, John Clay Knox; and son, Robert Bickley Knox.
Carol B. Knox is survived by three grandchildren; Connie Lee Parnell, John Jesse Knox, and Kathy Ann (husband Ken G.) Clark; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Robert McDowell, John Tramane Knox, and Cody Ray Parnell; and also Ray Parnell, all of Casper, Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to Central Wyoming Senior Center and Central Wyoming Hospice.
