Carlene Adele Weiss, age 84, of Casper, passed away June 15, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice following a short illness. Carlene was born March 6, 1935 in Worland, Wyoming to Carl and Echo (Sweet) Pickett. She was the youngest of six children and the only daughter. She grew up in and around Ten Sleep, Wyoming. She was married to Richard Shumaker and had two children, Gloria "Jean" and Alan, and later got divorced and met and married Emmett "Lee" Weiss. He had two children that she accepted and loved as her own, Ronald and Sandra.
She attended beauty school and got her cosmetologist license and continued practice on her friends and family inside of her home for many years. She worked for the School District in the cafeteria at Dean Morgan for 28 years before retiring. She was very sociable and dedicated to her family. She loved to travel and see places but loved Wyoming, and was always happy to return home.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emmett "Lee" Weiss, five brothers, daughter, Gloria "Jean", step-son, Ronald, granddaughter, Rhonda, grandson, Eric, and great-granddaughter, Gabriella. She is survived by her son, Alan Shumaker, of Ten Sleep, WY, step-daughter, Sandra Hardee, from Lakeland, FL, granddaughters, Mykael (Shawn) Graham, of Casper, WY, Jennifer (Rob) Minor, of Grapevine, TX, Kristina McDougall of Lubbock, TX, Amy (Brent) Anderson, of Moorcroft, Wyoming, Angela (John) Smith, of Central Hills, FL, Tina (Wayne) Van Leuven, of Rigby, ID; grandsons, Camaron Weiss, of Sheridan, WY, Nathaniel (Heather) Shumaker, of Portland, OR, Matthew (Kayla) Shumaker of Vancouver, WA, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 21, 2019 at Newcomer Casper Chapel with Pastor Jim Knight officiating and a reception will follow at the First Church of the Nazarene.
