Byron L. Stamm

October 5, 1930 — January 9, 2017

There are many people in Casper, Wyoming with rocks in their pockets! And they were given to them by Byron Laverne Stamm, who passed away on January 9, 2017.

An avid rock polisher, he gave rocks to just about everyone he met…nurses, waitresses, doctors, friends, and family. His other passions included his gardens, bowling, building custom bird houses, and traveling North America. He lived for his loving and beautiful wife, Beverly, and their three amazing kids, Kim, Kip, and Kurt, all of whom are still with us today. He said good-bye to his mother, Leah, his father John, his brother Arthur and his grandson Peter, who rest in peace.

Byron was born in Wheatland, Wyoming in 1930 and he and his family lived in a sod house with a dirt floor for the first few years of his life. He served in the military, both the Army and the Air Force, before going on to have a successful career in the electrical contracting industry. He worked for Automation & Electronics in Casper, Wyoming for four decades, where he became president and retired in 2000.

Byron loved rambling around the country with Beverly in one of their monstrous RV's, going dancing (and clearing the dance floor because they were so good), pitching a good game of horseshoes and kicking everyone's butt in a poker game. He was also on numerous bowling leagues in Casper and bowled a 300 game in 2003 at the age of 72, which, at the time was a record in the state as the oldest person to throw a 300 game.

He was a member of the Parish Church Council and Finance Committee at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and was heavily involved in the upkeep and renovations of the church.

There will be a funeral mass held in his honor at St. Anthony's on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 11:00 am. Bring your rocks to celebrate! And if you want to make a contribution in his honor, we ask that you consider Seton House, Rainbow Rescue Inc., or Casper Humane Society. We miss him and we know you do too. To Byron with love from Bev, Kim, Kip and Kurt.
