Byron "Randy" Lane passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 1, 2016 at the age of 63. Randy was born August 5, 1952 in San Jose, California to Byron and Joy Lane. Growing up in western Nebraska and graduating from Gering High School, he was an avid Husker fan.
It was there that he met and married the love of his life Candy. Married 43 years, he cherished every moment with her, their love story was one that all who knew them admired.
Randy was a passionate weight lifter, spending most evenings in the gym. He loved the opportunity to share his knowledge by coaching and encouraging anyone around him. For the past 18 years he coached Special Olympics weight lifting.
Randy was a member of College Heights Baptist Church where he was an Awana leader, coached Upward basketball, volunteered for vacation bible school each summer and served on many mission trips to Africa and Mexico.
Randy loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife, Candy; mother, Joy Lane; sisters, Marsha (Tom) Runge and Joy (John) Beacon; son, Donnie (Deb) Lane; daughter Brandi (Robert) Day; grandsons, Chase Lane and Artem and Colbey Day; granddaughters, Paige and Emily Lane and Hannah Day; sister-in-law, Jody (Mark) Rexus and brother-in-law, Gregg (Krista) Gingrich.
His father, Byron, preceded him in death.
Public viewing will be Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming.
Services will be at College Heights Baptist Church, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
Graveside services will be in Gering, Nebraska, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 am.
Memorials may be given in Randy's name to the Chande Medical Project through College Heights Baptist Church or to the Special Olympics of Wyoming.
